mehdi hassan meraz India registered a comfortable win over Sri Lanka in their first warm-up match ahead of the ODI World Cup in Guwahati on Friday.
Bangladesh bowled out Sri Lanka for 263 and achieved the target with eight overs to spare; Apart from all the issues these facts point to, Sri Lanka will also be worried about their opening batsman
Kusal Perera, who walked off the field in the 10th over of his innings due to a strain in his right shoulder. He scored 34 runs from 24 balls before retiring hurt.
Apart from the result, Bangladesh will also be happy with Tanjeed – who made his debut during the Asia Cup in August and has played just five ODIs so far – as he is easing into the international scene. His quickfire 84 off 88 balls, which included ten fours and two sixes, decimated the Sri Lankan attack which was struggling to generate any kind of pressure. His opening partnership of 131 runs from 124 balls with Liton, who scored 61 runs, set a good platform for the team to chase Sri Lanka’s 263 runs. Mehdi, who was Bangladesh’s captain for the game, followed up the efforts of the openers with an unbeaten 67. He also bowled 10 tough overs and took 1 wicket for 32 runs.
After electing to bat, Sri Lanka made a promising start
Pathum Nissanka Perera and Kusal combined with Mendis to add 104 runs, before losing their first wicket in the 15th over. Nissanka top-scored with an aggressive 68 runs.
Dhananjay de Silva Scored 55 runs at No. 6, but struggled to get going with most of the middle order having an offspinner
Mahedi Hasan Took 3 wickets for 36 runs in his nine overs. Tanzeem Hasan Saqib, Shoriful Islam, Nasum Ahmed and Mehdi also took one wicket each to bowl out Sri Lanka in the last over.
